In wealth management, empathy and understanding are vital—but so is alignment. One of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in recent years involved parting ways with a prospective client. Despite the initial promise, it became clear that our values and working styles were not aligned.
This experience reinforced a critical truth: mutual respect and decision-making readiness are essential to a successful advisor-client relationship. Sometimes, saying “no” is the best service you can offer—not just to protect your time, but to preserve integrity and client outcomes.
